VINEYARD

The vineyards are near Sambuca di Sicilia and are 15 years old. They surround Lago Arancio (Lake Arancio) which was once a river forming a valley. The soil profiles are quite deep towards the lake and composed of ancient marine fossils. The vineyards are North facing meaning a cooler exposition. Afternoon sea breezes from the South-West provide further essential cooling.

WINEMAKING

Fruit is destemmed and fermented in small one tonne fermenters. Fruit remains on skins for 10 days before pressing to 2000 litre French oak casks.

TASTING

Freshly crushed blueberries and cherries with flecks of violet perfume. The palate is fresh and lively cherry conserve, blistered blueberry and a distinct mineral feel. A cool feel with some mountain herb notes. The tannin is grainy and al dente with fine lacy acid pulling through on the finish.

WINE REVIEWS
Vintage 2017 Deep red/purple colour. Clean and appealing dried fruit, prune and sour-cherry aromas, a note of undergrowth too. The palate is medium to full-bodied and deep, with excellent balance and savouriness typical of the variety. Good length, the aftertaste is appetising
