VINEYARD

Fruit was sourced from an 9 year old vineyard on northern aspect from the province of Agrigento in the south west of Sicilia. The fruit was hand picked. Ideal spring weather resulted in good flowering. Above average temperatures during the growing season resulted in an earlier harvest but optimum ripeness was achieved.

WINEMAKING

Fruit is destemmed and fermented in small one tonne fermenters. Fruit remains on skins for 10 days before pressing to 2000 litre French oak casks.

TASTING

Aromatic cherry and blueberry/mountain herbs on the nose leads into a full fleshy palate of plums, prunes and blackberries entwined with a soft coating of tannin.

WINE REVIEWS
Been a little while since I’ve tried these wines (aside the recently reviewed rosato). It’s maturing, and shows some new leather development, but also lush suede-like tannin. Medium-bodied, blueberry and blackberry, scrub herb perfume, and a little aniseed. Fleshy and round, Italianate charm laid on, and a dry finish featuring bitter chocolate and just a little spice. Ready now. Value and interest is there.
