VINEYARD

The vineyard is located in San Martino al Tagliamento near Pordenone. Vineyards are now 27 years old. Judicious cropping in a marginal climate allows optimum ripeness to be achieved. Initially high potential crops, but rainy weather during flowering reduced crop loads. August received some significant high temperatures, but a long Indian summer meant harvest was a little later with Pinot Grigio achieving optimum ripeness in the first week of September. These conditions allowed us to go more skin contact. No disease pressure long summer perfect!

WINEMAKING

Fruit is crushed to press where it soaks in the press for 24 hours without draining. Complete oxidative handling. Juice is pressed out where it settles naturally for 48 hours and then is racked to ferment. Maturation on lees post ferment for approximately 20 weeks before bottling

TASTING

The colour is slightly deeper than the 2017 vintage due to more skin contact. Straw coloured nose is a little muted initially but then opens to pear, grilled nuts and subtle floral nuance. The palate is medium weight with texture the main calling card. The skin contact has accentuated mouthfeel where it spreads across the palate. Pear and green melon the main characters. Textural – grippy Pinot Grigio!!!
